Product Overview
Arginine (C6H14N4O2), with a molecular weight of 174.20, is an amino acid compound. In the human body, it participates in the ornithine cycle, promoting the formation of urea, converting ammonia produced in the body into non-toxic urea via the ornithine cycle, and excreting it through urine, thus lowering blood ammonia levels. It has a high concentration of hydrogen ions, which helps correct acid-base balance in hepatic encephalopathy. Arginine is a basic amino acid, along with histidine and lysine.Arginine has optical isomers: L-Arginine (CAS: 74-79-3), D-Arginine (CAS: 157-06-2), and DL-Arginine (CAS: 7200-25-1).As a basic amino acid, Arginine is essential for the human body, catalyzing the ornithine cycle to promote urea formation, thus converting ammonia in the body into non-toxic urea. It is also an endogenous substrate for nitric oxide synthesis, which plays a physiological role under the catalysis of synthetase. This biochemical process is known as the nitric oxide pathway. Nitric oxide acts as an intercellular messenger and neurotransmitter, playing a vital role in the cardiovascular system and central and peripheral transmission.Arginine was first isolated and named by German scientists from the seedlings of the plant lupine in 1886. In 1995, it was also found in mammalian proteins.
Arginine Production Process
Derived from the hydrolysates of proteins (such as gelatin), separated by ion-exchange resin or barium hydroxide. It is usually made into hydrochloride but is also stable in its free form, which is also available for sale. It can also be produced by fermentation using carbohydrates as raw materials.
Benefits and Effects of Arginine
Used as a nutritional supplement and flavoring agent. When heated with sugars (amino-carbonyl reaction), it can produce special aroma substances. According to GB 2760-2001, it is permitted as a food flavoring agent.
Arginine Application Scenarios
Nutritional supplements, food flavoring agents, etc.
